Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering

Within the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, teachers and associates are involved in teaching and scientific activities that include the processes of drug synthesis, isolation of biologically active compounds from natural sources, and the production of final forms of drugs and cosmetic products. Employees are active in the teaching process at all levels of study, scientific and professional work in the field of pharmaceutical engineering. The scientific interest of the members of the department includes the examination of under-researched plant species, by-products of industry, and agricultural waste as a source of pharmacologically active substances, as well as the formulation of cosmetic preparations.

In 1978, the course of chemical processing and pharmaceutical engineering was introduced, which precedes today's study program in Pharmaceutical Engineering. For many years, a part of the teaching staff of this Department has been responsible for teaching professional subjects within this program. The Department is responsible for one program of specialist studies - Cosmetic Technology.
The scientific work of the members of the Department is carried out through a series of domestic (provincial and national) and international projects (“COST” - European Cooperation in Science and Technology), then through cooperation with scientific institutions in the region and Europe, as well as through training of younger members at selected European institutes. Numerous members of the Department are also active in knowledge transfer, the so-called cooperation with the economy, as well as through the realization of a series of contracts on business and technical cooperation with various domestic and international companies.
