M. Špírková at IMRSAS

Dr Milena Špírková from Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Academy of Sciences, v.v.i., Prague, Czech Republic (IMCASCR) visited Institute of Materials Research, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Kosice Slovakia (IMRSAS) for one week (from 25th to 31st January 2010) within the Mobility and training activity (WP 1).

This visit had three main topics:

  • The discussion about the future collaboration between IMRSAS and IMCASCR in the second and third year of RP-DEMATEN project. For this purpose, the laboratories and techniques available in IMRSAS were explored. Important point of discussion was also a recent European project, which IMRSAS got for puchazing of a new equipmens.
  • The preparation of the program for next one-month training stay of M.Sc. Annamaria Duszová in IMCASCR that will be done on the preparation and characterization of complex nanostructured polymeric material (polymeric organic matrix reinforced by inorganic nanofiller). The stay of M.Sc. Duszová in IMCASCR will be carry out from 15th February to 14th March 2010 under supervision of Dr Milena Špírková.
  • Presentation of a lecture with the title: „Organic-Inorganic Nanocomposites“ with main goal to acquaint colleagues from IMRSAS with our current results in the field on nanocomposite (and other nanostructured polymers) preparation and characterization.

K. Maca at FTUNS

Assoc. Prof. Karel Maca from the Department of Ceramics and Polymers, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic (DCPBUT) visited the Department of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Serbia (FTUNS), for one week (from 20th to 27th February 2010) within the Mobility and training activity (WP 1).

This stay was realized simultaneously with the first week of one month stay of PhD. student Vaclav Pouchly (DCPBUT) at FTUNS. Assoc. Prof. K. Maca and Prof. V. Srdić (FTUNS) prepared the research plan for the stay of Vaclav Pouchly with the two main parts – synthesis of core-shell particles (SiO2/Ni ferrite) and their uniaxial pressing, and digitalization of dilatometer THETA 1200°C. K. Maca had also discussion with V. Srdic about the new COST Action SIMUFER. In the framework this Action the co-operation between DCPBUT and FTUNS will continue at a research base.

Since at the same time Dr. Konstantinos Giannakopoulos from the Institute of Materials Science, National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” Athens, Greece (IMSNCSR) was also present at FTUNS, they had together with Prof. V. Srdic, Prof. J. Budinski-Simendic, Dr. B. Pilic (FTUNS) discussion about the organization of the 2nd DEMATEN Workshop “Structural and Functional Characterisation of Complex Materials” (June 3-5, 2010, Chalkidiki, Greece).

Karel Maca visited the training course of Dr. Giannakopoulos, and also he presented the lecture “The research of advanced ceramic processing at the Brno University of Technology and its future perspectives”.

V. Srdić at UDE

Prof. Vladimir V. Srdić from the Department of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Serbia (FTUNS) visited the Department of Engineering Sciences at the University Duisburg Essen, Germany (UDE), for one week (from 24th to 30th April 2010) within the Mobility and training activity (WP 1).

The visit was divided in two parts: i) visit of Nanoparticle Process Technology Division at the Department of Engineering Sciences, University Duisburg Essen, Germany and ii) meeting with Prof. Horst Hahn (supervisor of the RP-DEMATEN Project) at the Third Seeheim Conference on Magnetisms in Frankfurt.

V. Srdić visited UDE simultaneously with the last week of training of PhD. student Ivan Stijepović (FTUNS) at UDE. Thus, he was directly able to recognize some of the activities, which was done by I. Stijepović (connected with Chemical Vapour Synthesis and characterization of oxide nanopowders) and way how they trained him. Prof. Markus Winterer and Mr. Ruzica Djenadić showed him laboratories and new equipments, purchased in last two year. They sumarized all activities done during four mounth study visit of I. Stijepović and made detailed plan for the future (study visits of our students: Stevan Ognjanović and I. Stijepović in September 2010).

V. Srdić was presented on Ph.D. thesis defendece of Ali Moazzam, who was visiting FTUNS Novi Sad in December 2009, and used possibility to talk with Prof. Hors Hahn (Project Advisor –of RP-DEMATEN), who was in the Commission. He used a meeting with H. Hahn to infor him about imporvements in Project in comparison to the first Project year. H. Hahn, who was following carefully progress in RP-DEMATEN (he was continuosly informed electronically about activities in the Project, was involved in preparation of the Periodic Report for the first project year and sent his Ph.D. student Azad Darbandi two times in Novi Sad) agrred that financial support by RP-DEMATEN was very helpfull for FTUNS and very efficiently used in realization of proposed activities. In Duisburg H. Hahn, M. Winterer and V. Srdić discussed together about future activities and collaboration.

After Duisburg, V. Srdić together with R. Djenadić moved to Frankfurt and participate in Third Seeheim Conference on Magnetisms with an poster presentation. However, more important task was the second visit with H. Hahn aimed to define the next meeting. V. Srdić suggested him to participate as a plenary lecturer in 11th YUCOMAT Conference (The Annual MRS Meeting of West Balkanian Countries), which will be held in September 2010 in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, and after that to come to Novi Sad. The second possibility could be the organization of a Core Group Meeting of RP-DEMATEN project in Herceg Novi, as already four members of PMB will be at this Conference.

F. Lofaj at IMSNR

Dr Frantisek Lofaj from Institute of Materials Research, Slovak Academy of Sciences (IMRSAS) wonted to use possibility to meet researchers Dr. E. Moshopoulou, Dr. K. Giannakopulos, Dr. D.
