Faculty of Technology is part of the University, which is situated on the University campus on the left bank of the Danube river near Novi Sad's city centre. The University of Novi Sad comprises 14 faculties which makes it the second largest among six state universities in Serbia. The main University Campus, covering an area of 259,807 m², provides the University of Novi Sad with a unique and beautiful setting in the region and the city of Novi Sad. Having invested considerable efforts in intensifying international cooperation and participating in the process of university reforms in Europe, the University of Novi Sad has come to be recognized as a reform-oriented university in the region and on the map of universities in Europe.
The Faculty of Technology was founded in 1959 and at first, the Faculty of Technology educated food technology engineers. In the 1970s its curriculum broadened to include education in chemical and pharmaceutical engineering. Now, basic activities of the Faculty of Technology are carried out by eight departments, one of them is the Department of Materials Engineering (DEMATEN).
